W Tower Leads the Way into the Future with Intelligent Building Technology Utilizing Facial, Voice and Behavioral Recognition Buildings

May 2010 — The W Tower in Tel Aviv will be the building of the future. Not only is it the tallest residential building in the city, but it is the first one where residents and visitors will enter through facial, voice, behavior and license plate recognition.

Opening in May, W Tower with its 52 stories and 200+ apartments will feature the SafeRise® system developed by Israeli-based company FST21.

The SafeRise system offers a secure, convenient, highly accurate and reliable way to let the right people in and keep the wrong people out – a preventive, intelligent controlled access solution that provides residential high rises, town houses and affordable living projects.

The state-of-the-art controlled-access system combines second-generation facial, voice and behavioral biometrics to authenticate a user’s identity and determine whether or not the individual is cleared for access to the area protected by the system.

The SafeRise system is automated. A resident simply looks at the dome camera at the building entrance and the door will open. If for some reason the camera doesn’t recognize the resident’s face (if they are wearing sunglasses for instance), the system's intercom will ask for their name and apartment number. Matching the voice with the resident will open the door. If the voice recognition ends in a low score or it is an unregistered guest or delivery, the system will transfer the resident to a representative from the monitoring station for further assistance.

W Tower was developed by the Canada-Israel Group, which was founded by Asaf Touchmair and Barak Rosen in 1992. SafeRise fits in perfectly with the group's business, which can be characterized as a new-age real estate firm, focusing on lifestyle and creating new standard-of-living concepts in residential, commercial and tourism projects.

“We want to be known as the company that is leading in taking advantage of the latest technology in Israel and bringing it to our clients,” said CEO Barak Rosen. ““SafeRise is clearly leading the way for security solutions for the 21st century. If this is a success as we predict it will be, we will standardize SafeRise in all of our buildings.”

W Tower has a four story parking lot. SafeRise will manage cars entering the parking lot as well as the 8 doors between the parking lot and entrance to the building. A doorman will be present at the building entrance.
The FST21 tagline, “No keys, cards, or codes are required. You are the key,” is what differentiates SafeRise® from other biometric access control systems by its fusion of both hardware and software that utilizes a variety of technologies to assess a user’s walk, talk, look, vehicle, voice patterns and stress levels.

“SafeRise is revolutionizing the way people enter residential high rise buildings by providing easy, automated and convenient access for residents and guests while maintaining the highest level of security,” said Major General (Res.) Aharon Zeevi Farkash, Chairman & CEO. “The Canada Israel Group has the same vision we have. Together, we are opening the doors to the future.”
